Mr. McAllister joined the Law Offices of Barry R. Lipsitz as an associate in January of 2000. Mr. McAllister was made a partner in the firm as of January 2005, and the firm name was changed to Lipsitz and McAllister. Prior to joining the Law Offices of Barry R. Lipsitz, Mr. McAllister was an associate at the corporate law firm of Seeley and Berglass, in New Haven, Connecticut from 1993 through 1999. Prior to joining the law firm of Seeley and Berglass, Mr. McAllister worked as a Biomedical Electrical Engineer at Philips Medical Systems North America, in Shelton, Connecticut.
Mr. McAllister specializes in all areas of intellectual property law practice, including patent, copyright, trademark, and unfair competition law. Mr. McAllister’s specific areas of practice include: patentability searches and opinions; patent infringement studies and opinions; patent validity studies and opinions; U.S. and foreign patent application preparation, filing, and prosecution; U.S. and foreign licensing of patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and know-how; copyright registration and licensing; U.S. and foreign trademark searches and opinions; preparation, filing, and prosecution of U.S. and foreign trademark applications; general legal counsel in patent, trademark, copyright and unfair competition matters. Mr. McAllister’s technical specialties include electronic and optical fiber communications and signal processing; digital rights management; computer technology (hardware and software); computer peripherals; semiconductor materials and processing; electronics systems including communication systems, local area networks, cable and satellite television systems and related components, electronic and electromechanical system controls and diagnostics; microelectronics; electrical and electronic components; mechanical and electromechanical devices; biomedical instrumentation; medical and surgical devices; precision machine tools and controls, paper manufacturing equipment and controls; and electro-optical systems.
Mr. McAllister received a J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law, Hamden, Connecticut in June of 1993 and a B.S.E.E. with specialization in Biomedical Engineering from University of Rhode Island, Kingston, Rhode Island, in December of 1986.
Mr. McAllister is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the State Courts of Connecticut, and the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut.
